Approximately, seventy percent of women do not have private health insurance and rely on the public health care system which does not adequately provide bras or prosthesis, for those who are financially unable to afford them. Without this support, many of these women are unable to function in day-to-day life and tend to withdraw from society and family. Proper bras and prosthesis are not only important for basic health; they also allow women to regain their self-esteem and confidence.
after Breast Cancer hopes to help these women restore their former quality of life. ABC is currently working hard to coordinate with hospitals and cancer support organizations in the GTA in an effort to get these basic supplies and services to women in need.
