Shining a Light on Breast Cancer - October 15

In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our team at after BREAST CANCER is commemorating it with a month-long social media campaign "Shining a Light on Breast Cancer" to raise public awareness for women and men affected by this devastating disease every year.

We want to encourage and support people facing breast cancer, educate and spread awareness about this disease, and build a stronger, healthier community where no one has to face breast cancer alone.

This year, we are commencing a new initiative taking place on all social media platforms — Shine a Light Day on October 15th. On this day, we invite our breast cancer graduates, ambassadors, sponsors, and everyone willing to participate, to express their solidarity and support to people whose lives are touched by breast cancer. Join us on October 15th, so we can shine a light on breast cancer together!

Did you know? According to the Financial Accountability Office of Ontario, when COVID-19 initially hit, more than 52,700 surgeries and procedures in Ontario were backlogged to free up space for COVID-19 patients. Breast cancer patients have especially been impacted by this backlog, which causes increased stress and anxiety, as they stay safe and isolate at home.

Did you know? 75 people are diagnosed with breast cancer EVERY DAY in Canada. Being diagnosed with breast cancer alone is hard on anyone, but during the pandemic with lock down and limited access to medical care, the stress caused by it inevitably increases.

At after BREAST CANCER, we want to make sure that people affected by breast cancer feel our support, and want to express it worldwide. Our goal is to spread the word about breast cancer and encourage people to join us on Shine a Light Day on October 15th.

Shine a Light Day on October 15th will take place on all our social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok). We invite everyone willing to participate to spread awareness and show their support for women and men affected by breast cancer. Together, through community and solidarity, we can shine a light on this disease!
