Jacqueline Auguste

Meet Jacqueline...

While all our breast cancer ambassadors are rock stars, Jackie truly is one. While she is the front woman for a Canadian award-winning rock band, Jackie is also an accomplished orthopedic trauma surgeon. She is a mother of 3 and grandmother of 2 children. A routine mammogram revealed a lump which was instantly biopsied. Jackie did not waste time after diagnosis starting chemotherapy. She immediately stopped performing surgery and focused on her health and fighting breast cancer. She chose to have a bilateral mastectomy and was in the middle of reconstruction when COVID-19 hit the world.

She continued to make music and focus on her family as music and family helped her heal mentally and physically. Jackie will tell you that together they got her through breast cancer. Jackie realized that none of the other things in her life—relationships, responsibilities or plans—would not happen if she did not focus on her health. The shift from caring for patients to caring for herself allowed Jackie to thrive during her treatments and after breast cancer. The support she got from her colleagues, her fellow musicians and her family gave her a sense of normalcy during a very abnormal time. And now, Jackie wants to inspire and support other breast cancer graduates as they follow their passions in life regardless of diagnosis.
